T6 Tree -Thameside - Dartford  This Thomas Killick died at about 1908 at Bridge End, Dartford.
T7 Tree - Thameside - Deptford St Paul  There is also a tree commencing William and Charlotte of New Cross. They had children between 1798 and 1820.
T8 Tree - Thameside - Southwark  This tree starts with Jacob Killick and Alice. Jacob is seldom used as a Killick name, so linking him should be easy. Easier said than done!
T9 Tree - Thameside - Liverpool / Boomers  This family has already been referred to in tree T3 above. It starts with Thomas Killick born c. 1760 and his wife Sara. The children were born in Tynemouth and North Shields in Northumberland, and Liverpool in Lancashire.
T10 Tree - Thameside - James Joseph Killick  James Joseph was born c. 1820 and died in 1861 in the Southwark St Saviour registration area. We believe he may have married Sarah in St Boltoph's Without Aldersgate, London.
T11 Tree - Thameside – Gravesend Organists! There is a chapter dealing with the provision of an organ for the rebuilt St George’s Church, Gravesend. This details how, in 1778, the Parish Meeting elected a Mr Richard Killick as organist. He died 6 years later in 1784 and was succeeded by a 13 year old Thomas Killick, possibly his son, who was “elected organist by a very great majority”. The annual salary for the organist was then £25, although in terms of current worth would be much more. It was increased to £30 in 1804.
V1 Tree - Kellock, Essex James Kellock c. 1820 is Missing Link No. 23.
V2 Tree - East London and Islington  In Tree T10 a Richard Killick 1781 and Martha Jane Pierrepoint were mentioned. They married 5 Aug 1797 at St Boltophs Without Bishopsgate, London. Martha died in 1855
V2 Tree - East London and Islington  Their children were baptised between 1798 and 1814. Nothing more is known about Richard who is Missing Link No. 24.
V3 - Tree - Islington and Canada In the 1861 census is Henry Killick, aged 40, at 16 King Henry Street, Islington, London with his wife Rachel nee Godfrey.
V4 Tree - Killik  The people in this tree usually, but not always, use the ‘Killik’ spelling. It has been traced back to John Killick, aka Killik, a carpenter and joiner who was in Clapham, Surrey in 1716.
V7 Tree - Rudgwick, Albury, Wonersh John and Elizabeth Killick had children baptised at Rudgwick, Sussex, between 1780 and 1785 and then at Wonersh, Surrey from 1789 to 1793. Rudgwick lies just south of the Sussex/Surrey border , whilst Wonersh is a few miles north.
V7 Tree - Rudgwick, Albury, Wonersh This chart also shows the descent of William Killick and Sara Punter who married in 1815. William may be the William 1784-1859 at Slinfold, Sussex, shown on tree V8.
V8 Tree - Slinfold, London, Wonersh and East Grinstead  The latest version of this substantial tree has several unproven links. It starts with Luke Killick born c. 1760-1764 who married firstly Jane, with whom he had four recorded children. His second wife was Elizabeth Grumbridge who died in 1787.
V8 Tree - Slinfold, London, Wonersh and East Grinstead  Continuing with this tree we have James 1788, brother of William 1784, who may be the husband of Ann Tester and with seven children born 1815-1832 in East Grinstead, Sussex and Godstone, Surrey.
V8 Tree - Slinfold, London, Wonersh and East Grinstead  Yet another unproven link is John born c. 1766, younger brother of Francis 1763-1835 who possibly married Hannah Rubridger and with four children born at Wonersh between 1792 and 1805.
V9 Tree - Leigh, Betchworth & Westcott  In a 1714 Thomas Killick, then of Leigh, married Elizabeth Filewood at Guildford St Nicholas, Surrey.
V10 Tree - Leigh  John Killick and Rebecca Buckley married at Leigh, Surrey on a 23 Oct 1793. She died, a widow, in 1838, her death being registered in the fourth quarter of the year.
V11 Tree - Reigate  Another missing link in this area, is James Killick, born c. 1822 in Betchworth or Kingswood, Surrey. He married Caroline Holman on 8th April 1844 at Reigate, Surrey and their children's births between 1845 and 1862 were all registered in the Reigate registration area.
V12 Tree - Leigh and Ashurst  Henry Killick was described as 'of Leigh'  when he married Mary Simmons on 10 Apr 1794 at Sevenoaks, Kent. But is this Leigh, Surrey or Leigh, Kent? Oh, why can't this hobby be easier?!
V13 Tree - Sutton-at-Hone  In November 1837 John Killick was buried at Sutton-at-Hone, Kent having reached the great age of 91. Seven years earlier in January 1830 Richard Killick was also buried there having died at the age of 90.
V13 Tree - Sutton-at-Hone  Richard born c. 1740 married Mary, she died in 18th June 13, and had three children that we know of baptised between 1767 and 1778, all at Sutton-at-Hone.
V13 Tree - Sutton-at-Hone  Also born at Sutton-at-Hone was William who in the 1841 census was a carter aged 43 at Dartford, Kent and living with his wife Ann. He was therefore born c. 1798. Their six children were baptised between 1825 and 1836.
V17 Tree - Charlwood  On 1 July 1788 at Warnham, Sussex, the marriage of Thomas Killick and Jane Razell was celebrated. Nearly a year later on the 31st May 1789 a John Killick was baptised at Warnham, the son of Thomas and Jane Killick. That all seems quite conclusive.
V17 Tree - Charlwood  On 9 Oct 1819 a John Killick married Sarah Gassons at Charlwood, Surrey. It should be noted that Warnham and Charlwood are only a few miles apart.
V18 Tree - Weybridge  Here we have John Killick who married Mary White in 1681 in Weybridge and later Sarah Clear in 1707 in East Moseley.
V18 Tree - Weybridge  Also Thomas Killick, a cordwainer, who married Mary Houn in Weybridge in 1690.
V19 Tree - Weybridge  Another Killick / White marriage. This time John Killick married Elizabeth White on the 8 May 1687 at Weybridge. John was a shoemaker, like his namesake Missing Link No. 41 above and also Thomas Missing Link No. 42. He was churchwarden at Weybridge 1696/7. He is also listed in the Association Rolls of 1695. But where did you originate from?
V20 Tree - Cheam  Between 1564 and 1574 eight children of Harry/Henry Killick were baptised at Brighton. The descent from the younger two brothers, Robert and John, has been recorded for two generations, ie until about the 1660’s, but nothing more. Yet!! Harry/Henry is Missing Link No. 45.
V22 Tree - Brighton  Between 1564 and 1574 eight children of Harry/Henry Killick were baptised at Brighton. The descent from the younger two brothers, Robert and John, has been recorded for two generations, ie until about the 1660’s, but nothing more. Yet!! Harry/Henry is Missing Link No. 45.
V22 Tree - Brighton  William who was the father of Alles baptised 1588; Mary baptised 1591; Joan baptised 1593. I'll call him 'William born before 1572' as he was likely to have been at least 16 years old before his first chart was born.
V22 Tree - Brighton  Then another William had children, Joane baptised 1604 and Richard baptised 1605. We will call him 'William born before 1588'.
V22 Tree - Brighton  Now for a Richard Killick, who married Joan Picknet on 7 Oct 1587 at Brighton. Witnesses at the wedding included Henrye Kyllicke and Richard Kyllicke. Using my “minimum age of 16 at marriage” rule, Richard would have been born before 1571. This is coupled with Henry being witness would make him eligible to be a son of Harry/Henry (Missing Link No. 45). If not a son then maybe a nephew and son of the other witness Richard?
V22 Tree - Brighton  Staying in the Brighton area we have a Robert Killick marrying Elisabeth Mercer on 2nd May 1678 at Newhaven, Sussex. Where does this Robert originate from? He would have been born before 1662 which means he is he was probably born during Cromwell's Commonwealth and records, such as they were, may not have survived
V22 Tree - Brighton  Another Brighton link is John, baptised 28 Apr 1667, son of Robert Killick. The year 1667 is 11 years before the Robert above was married. Is this possible? Yes, if it is Robert (Missing Link No. 49) the Newhaven marriage could have been his second. Otherwise it is highly highly unlikely. For the moment I assume not. This John married twice, the second bride being Mary Friend whose surname became a distinctive forename for male Killicks of this branch for at least the next four generations.
V22 Tree - Brighton  Again in Brighton on 14th February 1780 Cornelius Killick married Elizabeth Braple. Cornelius would have been born before 1682, but there are no records in Brighton for a child with this name. His name, Cornelius, was used in five succeeding generations, but where did he come from?
V23 Tree - Effingham  On 8 July 1577 Alice Houghton was bride at Effingham, Surrey to Nicholas Killick, but this marriage only lasted until the following year when there is a record of Alice’s burial. On 8 July 1579 (note the date) Nicholas married Elizabeth Houghton or Hampton, again his marriage was at Effingham. Elizabeth was recorded as being buried in 1613. The following year, 1614, again on the 8th July, Nicholas marries again this time to Agnes Sharrat. Can this be right? Three marriages on the same day of the month! I must look up 8 July to see if it is a ‘Saint’s Day’.
V25 Tree  - David H Killick  Now a move up to the 20th century, David H Killick was born 1903 in Croydon. In 1924 he married Rose Dettmar in Croydon.
V27 Tree - Clerkenwell  In the 1851 census of Clerkenwell is a Charlotte Killick probably neé Whitaker, age 38, with William age 12 and James age 10.
V28 Tree - Clifton (Somerset), Westminster, Marylebone, Hitchin (Hertfordshire) and Hastings (Sussex)  Tree V6 referred you to this tree, who were quite a mobile family! (On the front page I called this tree ‘Ubique’, latin I am told for ‘everywhere’ and the sole Battle Honour for the Royal Artillery and Royal Engineers.). In 1821 Thomas Killick, son of Richard and Elizabeth, was baptised at Westminster St James. Richard would, therefore, have been born before 1805.
V29 Tree - Suffolk  George Killick, aged 26, married Amy Nicholls, aged 24, on 7th March 1867 at Wensley, North Yorkshire. Wensley was in the Leyburn registration area. Children's births were registered at Rotherham, now South Yorkshire in 1868, Alice Jane, and Marylebone, London in 1870, Charles William. Their baptisms are recorded in the Suffolk Bishops Transcripts in June and May 1873 respectively.
V29 Tree - Suffolk  John could be the son of William and Esther Killick, who was baptised 25 Feb 1821 at Southwark St George the Martyr, but until that is proved, or not, he will be Missing Link No. 57.
V30 Tree -Edmonton, Middlesex  Thomas Frederick Killick married, we think, Ethel Annie Davey in Islington in the second quarter of 1901. Their five children were born 1902-1920. Two were boys, Frederick Walter, born 1905, and James Herbert, born in 1920. Both of these sons died in conflicts, Frederick in the Spanish Civil War and James in the Western North African desert in Dec 1941.
V31 Tree - Nutfield, Surrey  Richard Killick, born c 1819 died 1858, married Sarah Russell in Nutfield on 3 May 1840. Their eight children and nine of their grandchildren have been documented.  Richard is Missing Link No. 59.
W Tree - Witham, Essex  William Carlick married Rhoda Tyrrell at Terling, Essex in 1811. For some members of the family the spelling of their surname changed over time to Killick.
George Killick a Gardener Sarah Ann Killick, daughter of George Killick who was a gardener, died of ‘Effusion of the Brain’ on 28th September 1850 at Tonbridge. She was aged 51 years. The informant was Ann Killick, who was present at the death and who also lived in Tonbridge.
Joseph Killick a Miller On 18th December 1882 George Killick, a labourer aged 31, married Ann Maria Candlett. They were married, their certificate records, in the ‘Jamaica Row Chapel according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Independents by Certificate’. Their parents were, respectively, Joseph Killick (deceased) a Miller and Joseph Candlett a Pipe Maker. The residence of both Bride and Groom was recorded as 40 West Street, Bermondsey, George signed the register and Ann ‘made her mark’. Witnesses were R. W. Souter (?) and E. S. Bedford.
Thomas Killick - Ramsgate 1837 A marriage, 17th September 1837, when Thomas Killick, a labourer and a widower, of full age, married Mary Hodgman, a widow. Their marriage certificate records that they were wed in St George’s Church, in the Parish of Ramsgate, Kent, after Banns had been called. Their parents were, respectively, William Killick and George Roses, both Labourers. The residence of both Bride and Groom was recorded as ‘Ramsgate’. Both signed the register. Witnesses were Jane Tully and J W Cullen (?)
South Wales 1912/3 n the June 2003 newsletter the contents of a Birth Certificate for William Richard John Killick formed the basis for Missing Link No 64.He was born 21st June 1912, at 25 Union Road, Neath, Glamorgan, the son of William Henry Killick, a Coal Miner and Catherine Ann Killick neé Williams. In 1913 Irene B D Killick was born in Neath registration area. Her mother’s name was Williams so is probably a sibling, but Williams is a very common name in South Wales so there could easily have been two brides with the same surname!
Arthur George Killick Albert George Killick, 6401331, 21st Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery, died Moji, JapanAlbert George was the son of Arthur George and Nellie Mable Killick, of Cross-in-Hand, Sussex. Arthur George Killick is probably the one who married in Eastbourne, Sussex in the 3rd Quarter of 1914. Albert George Killick was born in the Uckfield, Sussex, area in the 3rd Quarter of 1921, mother's maiden name Brooker. He died on the 27th April 1945 in Moji, Japan, aged 23.
Albert Killick 22322782 Pte L.G. Killick died of wounds on 12 May 1951. He is buried at Cheras Road Christian Cemetery, Kuala Lumpur, Malaya. Lionel is commemorated on the Hemel Hempstead War Memorial. Lionel’s father was Albert Killick (Missing Link No. 66) who married in the 2nd Quarter of 1924, his wife’s surname was Crew.
