The Killick Society was founded in 1980 by a number of people interested in the family history of the Killicks. They had made contact through an index of family names being researched, organised by Society of Genealogists in London. Since then the members have pooled information, the Hon. Secretary acting as a clearing-house. New data is circulated to members in May and November in 'The Killick' the Killick Society's newsletter. The Society and it's members have 'built' a number of Family Trees from the collected data. These are listed on page 'Killick Society Trees'. Indexes are compiled as an aid to research, and some summarised material is lodged at the Society of Genealogist's Library in London. The Honorary Secretary maintains membership of the Guild of One Name Studies (GOONS). Copies of The Killick are held by the GOONS Librarian. Membership of the Society is open to anyone interested in the family history of the Killick families. the 'Hon. Sec.' can be contacted on Killick@one-name.org. Commencing in 2004 Subscription rates for those members receiving their newsletters and data on CD-ROM were at a lower rate than those receiving 'paper' version. We still have to resolve how we can have newsletters published on the internet – that is definitely for the future - for those who want to enjoy this medium. 2008 Subscriptions The Subscription Rates for 2008 remain the same as for the previous four years. They are: UK Postal Addresses: Option A - CD-ROM Version of the Newsletter: £7.50 Option B - Paper Version of the Newsletter: £9.00 Overseas Postal Addresses (all via Air Mail) Option Y - CD-ROM Version of the Newsletter: £10.00 Option Z - Paper Version of the Newsletter: £12.00 Anyone joining after the despatch of the May edition of The Killick pays half the annual subscription rate, unless they require a copy of both editions for the year, in which case the full annual rate is payable. Any cheques sent should be drawable on a UK Bank and be made payable to ‘Clive Killick’ - The Killick Society does not have a separate Bank Account. Foreign currency notes, in a major currency, equivalent to the applicable £(PDS) subscription are acceptable. An account of the Killick Society's Income and Expenditure for the preceding year is included with each May edition of The Killick. Letters or Emails will be sent to Members and anyone who has expressed an interest in the Society within a few days.
