Links to the Guild Archive can also be found on Killick Page of the GOONS web-site www.one-name.org or by ‘clicking’ on an item in the list above.

There is a facility in the Guild Archive to include records of Adoptions, but the Killick Society has very few such records. Records of any Scotland Marriage Registrations are also not known of. Other records may be added as they are digitised or if other categories of information are added to the ‘Guild Archive’.

Searching for data in the ‘Guild Archive’ is allowed in different ways. Firstly the database must be selected, i.e. Births, Marriages, etc., following which the following parameters can be used to define a search:

·        By forename.

·        Within a specified time period.

·        By the Registration District in which the event occurred.

·        For English & Welsh registered marriages, the spouses forename or surname, where such data is included in the Society’s database. Spouse’s surnames are included in the General Register Office indexes from 1912??? Onwards.

·        For English & Welsh registered deaths the age/date of birth, where such data is included in the Society’s database.

Ages at death are included in the General Register Office indexes from 1866 to March (Quarter 1) 1966. Prior to 1866 the age at death was not included in the GRO indexes. From  April (Quarter 2) 1966 the age at death has been replaced in the GRO indexes with the date of birth.

Some of the  Killick Wills in the Guild Archive have more information than others. This is because for many wills only an index has been transcribed. As more information about individual wills becomes available it will be added to the website.

For information on Killick Wills in England pre-1858, send an Email to killick@one-name.org or visit the National Archives website www.documentsonline.nationalarchives.gov.uk where Wills and Administrations proved at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury can be searched and copies purchased.
